Q: Why should I get my Conceal Carry Permit with Ohio becoming a Constitutional Carry State?
First and foremost, the more training and documentation of firearms training an individual possess, the better position they will be in if involved in a deadly force encounter. Most likely a lawsuit will be forthcoming.
As a law enforcement officer, we qualify twice a year and continue to show firearm proficiency. As an individual, it is important to show training and knowledge of the laws of the State of Ohio.
With constructional carry, ignorance of the laws of self-defense and others concerning the use of deadly force will not protect you from criminal charges or lawsuits.
Further, constructional carry stops at Ohio’s borders. In order for reciprocity to take place, one must have a concealed carry permit.

By law, the Sheriff has forty-five (45) days to respond to an application request. In most instances, where the applicant resides in the County where the background is completed and all background checks come back immediately, licenses will be issued within a few days. Once your license is issued and printed, it will be placed in the mail to you. Please be sure to provide us with your most current mailing address while applying for the license.
Q: Which other states does Ohio have a reciprocity agreement with?
Ohio law gives the Attorney General the right to negotiate concealed carry weapons reciprocity agreements with other states.
Under such agreements, Ohio and other states agree to respect each other's concealed carry laws and recognize each other's permit holders.
In assessing whether to enter a reciprocity agreement, the Attorney General must determine if another state's concealed carry law and requirements are "substantially comparable" to Ohio's. These states are subject to change so check the Attorney Generals website for updates.
